Netalyse – Network scanner & diagnostics tool

Last updated: 25 September 2026 · applies to the app de.netalyse.app

Summary Netalyse does not collect, store or transmit any personal data to the developer or to third parties. There is no advertising, no tracking, no analytics SDK and no server of our own. All results stay solely on your device.

1. Controller

The developer of Netalyse is responsible for this app. Contact for privacy enquiries: mammutandroid@gmail.com.

2. Principle: your data stays on the device

Netalyse is a diagnostics tool for networks you are authorised to access. It processes everything locally on your device. There is no backend, no account and no registration. The developer never has access to your scan results, logs or stored credentials.

3. Data processed locally

DataPurposeWhere
IP addresses, hostnames, MAC addresses and open ports of devices on your networkShowing scan results, vendor lookup from the MAC addressLocal only (memory and local event log)
Event log (scans, hosts, ports, connections, alerts)Traceability; optional export as a text fileLocal only
Saved SMB/SSH/FTP credentialsOptional convenience when reconnectingLocal only, encrypted (see section 5)
Captured network recordings (pcap files)Optional diagnostics of the attached adapter or your own device trafficLocal only; shared only if you share them
App settings (e.g. theme, log options)UsabilityLocal only (SharedPreferences)

4. Permissions and why they are needed

Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)

For technical reasons Android only returns your router's identifier (BSSID) and Wi-Fi scan results to apps that hold the location permission. Netalyse uses it only to show the router vendor and the Wi-Fi environment. Your geographic location is never collected, stored or transmitted. The app works fully without this permission; only the router's vendor name is then missing.

Wi-Fi & network state (ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, INTERNET)

To determine your subnet, scan the local network and connect to discovered services.

Bluetooth (BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT and others)

For the optional Bluetooth device overview and to drive a Bluetooth adapter attached via USB. Only the advertising data any Bluetooth app receives through the Android API is shown.

Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)

To alert you when the optional continuous monitoring finds a new device, and to show running background services.

Foreground services (FOREGROUND_SERVICE and subtypes)

5. Encryption of saved credentials

If you choose to save SMB/SSH/FTP credentials, they are encrypted with a key generated in the Android Keystore that never leaves it. The encrypted data stays on your device only. Saving is optional and can be deleted at any time.

6. VPN feature

The optional VPN capture uses Android's VpnService API to record your own device's traffic locally as a pcap file, after you confirm Android's system dialog. No traffic is forwarded to the developer or third parties: every connection goes unchanged to its real destination. The app is not an external VPN provider and does not reroute data. Recorded files stay local until you share them.

7. Connections to external servers

Netalyse generally connects only to devices on your local network. The single exception is the optional speed test, which uses Cloudflare's public service speed.cloudflare.com to measure your connection bandwidth and show your public IP and provider. This runs only when you start it; Cloudflare's privacy terms then apply. No personal content is sent — only test data.

8. No sharing with third parties

No data is transmitted to the developer or third parties (except the speed test you trigger, section 7). No analytics, advertising or tracking services are used.

9. Deleting data

Because all data is local, you can remove it yourself at any time via the app's delete functions (clear log, delete saved credentials, delete recordings) or by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling removes all data the app has stored.

10. Children

Netalyse is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may change as the app evolves. The current version is always available at this address; the date above indicates its status.
